MI v RR Match Analysis:

Corey Anderson’s power hitting and Tare’s winning six helped Mumbai Indians to beat Rajasthan Royals by five wickets. As a result MI reached at 4th position on the point table. Mumbai Indians needed to chase down 190 within 14.3 overs to qualify for playoffs. Corey Anderson came up to the order after the wicket of Simmons. He and Michael Hussey were trying hard to keep up the tempo. Hussey scored 22 off 11 and got cleaned up by Kevon Cooper. Then, Cooper dismissed Kieron Pollard after got hit for a 6. Then, Rohit Sharma joined Anderson to finish the task. Rohit attacked from the first ball and scored 16. Anderson scored his first IPL fifty in 25 balls. Ambati Rayudu played an exceptional knock and hammered RR bowling. MI was trying everything to achieve the impossible task of securing 4th place of point table.

Last 3 balls was the most dramatic plot of the script. There were three balls and nine runs to score. James Faulkner. First ball went for single and Anderson shifted to non striker end. Rayudu was on strike and MI needed eight runs to win in 2 balls. A full toss came on the pads of Rayudu and he hit it over square leg for six. Everyone thought it was over for RR as only two needed from one ball. Faulkner bowled a length ball and Rayudu hit it towards mid-off. Watson missed to hit the stumps and the batsmen tried to run a double but Rayudu (30 off 10 balls) got run out. It was like a super over situation. MI equaled the RR’s run-rate and then a 4 or 6 were needed in the next ball for MI to qualify. Aditya Tare came on the strike and Faulkner bowled another full toss on pads did the same, six over square-leg. MI reached at 4th position on the point table and qualified for Playoffs.

Anderson was unbeaten on 95 (9x4s, 6×6) off 44 balls and declared Man of the Match.

Qualifier 2 (May 30, Mumbai): Winner of the Eliminator v Loser of Qualifier 1
